The After Beracha for One Who Ate a Kezayit and a Safek Kezayit of Another Food

The After Beracha for One Who Ate a Kezayit and a Safek Kezayit of Another Food
Day: Wednesday
Date: May 25, 2016
Parshat: Behar
Yalkut Yosef: O"H: 208

There is a disagreement among the Poskim whether a kezayit comes out to 18 grams or to 27 grams. Generally, for the purposes of after berachot and for netilat yadayim we consider a kezayit to be 27 grams. However, since it is a safek, one who ate a kezayit (27 grams) of mezonot and now requires me'en shalosh with the al hamihya insert can also add the al ha'etz insert if he had 18 grams of fruit of the shiv'at haminim. However if he had any less than 18 grams of the fruit he may not add the insert. Likewise, if he had a kezayit of mezonot and between a kezayit and a revi'it of wine he can also add the al hagefen insert to his al hamihya since there is a safek as well regarding an after beracha for one who drank that amount of liquid.
