Day: Friday Date: May 13, 2016 Parshat: Kidoshim Yalkut Yosef: O"H: 493
There are some people who do not travel or swim in rivers during the period of Sefirat Haomer, however, it is not necessary to refrain from doing so in a place where the people do not have such a custom. Some women have a custom to refrain from sowing, knitting, and other such melachot from shekia and onward during Sefirat Haomer in order to show that they too are participating in the mourning for the students of Rebbi Akiva. However, those women that do not have such a custom need not refrain from doing so, especially if their livelihood comes from such things.
