Day: Monday Date: July 11, 2016 Parshat: Hukat Yalkut Yosef: O"H: 214
One who as part of his Torah learning encounters a name of Hashem written in a pasuk should say the name as it is normally said. This is true even if the pasuk is not quoted in its entirety. It is not proper to use a substitution in its place such as "Adoshem," or Hashem" etc. Since it is permissible for a person to say Hashem's name in that circumstance, not saying it would be like giving a nickname to Hashem. However, when one encounters berachot (as opposed to pesukim) in his learning, he should not say Hashem's name and in those cases it is proper to say "Hashem" or some other moniker.
