A person who fainted and then woke up does not say Hagomel. If he is required to say it for another reason, such as traveling, he may have in mind when saying it that it's for fainting and waking up as well. A person who has the flu so bad that he needs to stay in bed, says Hagomel upon recovering even if he clearly caused himself to get it by not taking preventative measures. However, a person who intentionally ingested poison intending to commit suicide but was then saved by an emergency procedure does not say Hagomel since the circumstances are so distasteful.
