323-746-3279As mentioned previously, one who was sick and got better is required to recite Hagomel. It is not necessary for a person to be sick for a specific amount of time or even to be in life threatening danger in order to be considered to have been sick enough to say the beracha. Rather, any person who was bedridden because of illness says Hagomel upon recovering. Obviously, a person who was sick enough that it would be okay to do melacha for him on Shabbat needs to say it as well. A person who has pus or some other liquid leaking from his eye and is suffering because of it says Hagomel when it gets better even if he wasn't bedridden. One who had an eye surgery says Hagomel even if he wasn't hospitialized because of it. May Hashem protect us all from such things.
DSH is brought to you in memory of Rabbi Mordechai ben Daniel. Please visit us online at SephardicHalacha.org
