How to Warm Water on Shabbat

How to Warm Water on Shabbat
Day: Wednesday
Date: October 22, 2014
Parshat: Noah
Yalkut Yosef: 318

A pot containing food that is not fully cooked may not be moved closer to a heat source on Shabbat since doing so quickens the cooking process. This is true even if the food is already extremely hot and does not contain any liquid. If it is moved anyways the food may not be eaten on Shabbat. One may put cold water into a pot or other vessel that is hot in order to warm the water somewhat. However, if it is possible for the water to reach yad soledet bo then it is forbidden.
